Scientists Propose Genomic-Based Conservation Strategy for Eastern Ghats Biodiversity

Scientists at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology's LaCONES emphasize using genomic tools, species-level research, and ecological studies to enhance conservation of the Eastern Ghats, a complex and underexplored mountain system in eastern India. The region's rich biodiversity faces threats from habitat loss, fragmentation, and climate change. A recent workshop aimed to foster collaborative research and expand expertise, highlighting innovative methods like environmental DNA to better assess biodiversity and guide conservation efforts.
