ASBAC Demands Cancellation of ST Certificates Issued to Non-APST Individuals in Arunachal Pradesh

The Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee (ASBAC) has demanded the cancellation of Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates issued to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (non-APST) individuals, citing concerns over fake certificates undermining indigenous rights. ASBAC chairman Sol Dodum urged the state government to conduct a comprehensive reverification of all ST certificates to protect tribal identity. The committee highlighted cases involving Tibetan refugees in Tawang and linked the issue to geopolitical tensions with China. ASBAC also called for stricter laws and digitalisation of ST records.
