The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has issued a Rs 4 lakh tender for structural design drawings of a proposed dog pound in Sector 25-West, estimated to cost Rs 18.42 crore and expected to be completed by September 30. The shelter, covering two acres, will accommodate about 1,980 dogs and include facilities for sterilisation, anti-rabies vaccination, administrative blocks, water and drainage systems, and landscaping. This project follows Supreme Court directions from a November 7, 2025, suo motu writ petition aimed at preventing dog-bite incidents and managing stray dogs in institutional areas. The design firm must submit detailed structural analyses and have drawings vetted by a reputed institution.
