
Noted writer and gynaecologist Khadija Mumtaz stated that personal laws, particularly inheritance laws, pose the greatest challenge for educated Muslim women seeking democratic rights. Speaking at the Vakkom Moulavi Memorial Lecture, she argued these laws contradict Islamic ideals of equality and justice. Mumtaz highlighted Vakkom Moulavi's advocacy for independent reasoning, women's equal opportunities, and adapting worldly matters to changing times while upholding faith.
