Bombay High Court Directs BMC and State to Strengthen Monitoring at Kanjurmarg Dumping Ground

The Bombay High Court has urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra state government to take urgent action to address pollution and odour issues at the Kanjurmarg dumping ground. The court directed the formation of a dedicated technical cell with experts to monitor waste management and environmental safeguards continuously. It also ordered immediate implementation of short-term measures, including installing a Tarpomatic cover, and encouraged officials to study advanced waste disposal systems abroad to improve local practices.
