Jharkhand's forest department plans to relocate three tigers, 50 bison, and 50 sambar deer from Madhya Pradesh to Palamau Tiger Reserve to boost declining populations. The proposal awaits approval from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) this month, after which a memorandum of understanding with Madhya Pradesh will be finalized. Palamau, once home to many big cats, currently has few tigers, mostly males, prompting the plan to introduce two tigresses and one tiger to enhance breeding prospects.
