Himachal Pradesh Launches Scheme to Address Malnutrition in Women and Children

The Himachal Pradesh government plans to launch the Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojna (IGMSSY) with a Rs 207.11 crore budget to combat malnutrition among children under six, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The scheme aims to provide nutrient-rich food, early identification, and management of high-risk groups like severely and moderately malnourished children. It includes capacity-building for frontline workers and strengthened monitoring through coordinated health, nutrition, and care interventions, targeting improved maternal and child health outcomes.
