
A protest erupted in Siliguri, West Bengal, after a pregnant tribal woman was allegedly assaulted by a civic volunteer during a land dispute in Phansidewa, leading to the death of her unborn child. The tribal community, supported by the Janjati Suraksha Manch, demanded capital punishment for the accused, Mohammad Kader, who has been arrested. Police used tear gas, water cannons, and a mild lathi charge to disperse protesters attempting to breach barricades, detaining several individuals. Four others involved remain unaccounted for.
