A 50-year-old man, Gourango Mahato, was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chandil, Jharkhand, early Sunday morning. He had gone to his barn after hearing a noise and was attacked by the elephant. The forest department has provided immediate relief to the family and will disburse further compensation. The incident has caused panic among villagers, who are demanding action against the elephant menace. This follows a similar incident on December 25 where another villager was injured.
