The panchayat of Ghagga village in Muktsar district has resolved to socially boycott and fine Rs 50,000 individuals supporting or providing bail for those involved in theft, snatching, and drug-peddling. This decision stems from an increase in winter-related thefts, particularly of water motors. Similar resolutions have been passed in other villages, including Shamkhera's appeal to drug peddlers and Balloh's ban on tobacco sales with fines.
