While 1,146 were found compliant, 20 received notices and action was taken against 59 for violations. The MFB warned of strict action under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention Act for non-compliance, which can include fines, sealing premises, and utility disconnections. Electrical faults are a major cause of fires in Mumbai.
