Delhi Government Plans AIIMS-Style Integration of Three Major Hospitals

The Delhi government plans to merge Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Delhi State Cancer Institute, and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital into a single autonomous medical institute modeled after AIIMS. This 'super medical hub' aims to optimize resource use, improve patient care, and address uneven patient loads—such as underutilized beds at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital and overcrowding at GTB Hospital. The initiative, announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, seeks to modernize Delhi's public healthcare system and enhance treatment efficiency.
