Delhi Government Plans to Merge Three Hospitals into Autonomous Medical Institute

The Delhi government plans to merge Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Delhi State Cancer Institute, and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital into a single autonomous medical institute modeled after AIIMS. This integration aims to optimize resource use, address uneven patient loads, and enhance healthcare delivery. Rajiv Gandhi Hospital currently operates below capacity, while GTB Hospital faces overcapacity. The initiative follows a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and officials present.
