Commuters are demanding the installation of street lights and signboards on the Mamangam flyover on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway following a fatal accident. A multiple-vehicle collision on December 25, attributed to the lack of lighting and a parked lorry, resulted in one death. Residents highlight risks from poor visibility due to darkness, mist, and fog, and the absence of clear signage. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stated that signboard installation has begun and the 40 planned lights will be installed within 10 days, with all works expected to finish before Pongal.
