The Supreme Court has directed Coal India Ltd. to create a supernumerary post for Sujata Bora, a woman with multiple disabilities, at its Assam unit. The court emphasized that disability inclusion should be viewed as a strategic advantage and a vital component of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and ESG frameworks, rather than just a compliance issue. Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K.V. Viswanathan invoked Article 142 of the Constitution to ensure Bora, who qualified for a management trainee position but was deemed unfit, receives appropriate accommodation.
