Over 400 citizens participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon to advocate for the protection of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) by opposing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) Draft Plan. Runners and supporters carried posters demanding the plan be scrapped to prevent deforestation and preserve Mumbai's green spaces. The campaign, led by the Save SGNP Citizens' Movement and supported by environmental groups, also highlighted concerns about mangrove cutting for the Versova-Bhayander Coastal Road and recalled past efforts to protect Aarey forest land.
