A 50-year-old woman from Jiangsu province, China, was hospitalized with acute liver failure after swallowing a raw fish gallbladder to relieve a headache, following traditional beliefs about its medicinal properties. She developed severe symptoms within hours and was treated in intensive care with plasma exchange and renal replacement therapy.
