Indore's Bhagirathpura area has experienced a diarrhoea outbreak linked to contaminated drinking water, with local reports citing up to 25 deaths, including that of 50-year-old e-rickshaw driver Hemant Gaikwad. Tests found E. coli bacteria in 51 tube wells, and a leakage mixing sewage with drinking water was identified as the contamination source. The Madhya Pradesh government formed a high-level committee led by Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar Shukla to investigate the incident, while the High Court has questioned the state's response and called for accountability and a judicial inquiry.
