A 10-year-old boy in Zhengzhou, China, sued his father after discovering that 82,750 yuan (approximately Rs 9-11 lakh) of his Lunar New Year gift money, held in a bank account managed by the father, was spent on the father's second wedding. The father argued the money came from his relatives and planned to return it when the boy reached adulthood. A Chinese court ruled the funds are the child's personal property and ordered the father to repay the full amount, stating parental use must directly benefit the child.
