Karnataka Launches Plans to Eliminate Rabies and Control Snakebite Deaths by 2030

Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced the launch of the State Action Plan for Dog-Mediated Rabies Elimination (SAPRE) aiming to eliminate dog-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030. The plan aligns with the national goal and includes making anti-rabies vaccines and immunoglobulin available at public and private health facilities without advance payment. Additionally, the state launched the State Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Snakebite Envenoming (SAPSE), making snakebite cases notifiable and involving multiple stakeholders for monitoring and implementation.
