In Sirkazhi taluk's J.J. Nagar settlement, over 100 Scheduled Tribe families, primarily from the Hindu Athiyan community, have been without anganwadi services since March last year. This disruption followed an assault incident near the anganwadi centre. As a result, nearly 150 children and pregnant or lactating women have lost access to supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, and health services under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme. Despite repeated petitions, local authorities have not restored these essential services, raising concerns about malnutrition and worsening economic conditions.
