The Maharashtra Tribal Development Department, in partnership with UNICEF and CYDA, trained 120 tribal women under the 'Adisakhi: WASHMITRA' initiative between September 2024 and November 2025. These women maintain hygiene and safe drinking water facilities in around 256 residential schools, earning incomes ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Despite challenges like irregular work and travel barriers, they have become community leaders. The program aims to expand to 500 schools, promoting sustainable infrastructure and women-led local solutions in tribal areas.
