Karnataka Government Supports Salon for Dalits Denied Haircut Services in Shingatalur

In Shingatalur village, Gadag district, Karnataka authorities established a barber shop after Dalit residents reported being denied haircut and tonsure services during certain annual periods, citing local superstitions. The salon was set up collaboratively by the Social Welfare Department, Taluk administration, Taluk panchayat, Dalit organizations, and the Shivasharana Hadapada Appanna community. This initiative is part of an untouchability eradication and social harmony program aimed at ensuring equal access to basic services and promoting social cohesion.
