Himachal Pradesh to Observe Disaster Awareness Day on April 4 Commemorating 1905 Kangra Earthquake

Himachal Pradesh will observe April 4 as Disaster Awareness Day to commemorate the 1905 Kangra earthquake, which caused over 20,000 deaths and the loss of 50,000 livestock. The State Disaster Management Authority plans activities from April 1 to 5, including orientation programs for school officials, dissemination of earthquake safety guidelines, ShakeOut drills, evacuation exercises, and workshops. These efforts aim to enhance disaster preparedness in the high-risk seismic zones IV and V across the state.
