The Hangul deer population in Jammu and Kashmir has doubled to 323, according to the 2025 census, marking a significant conservation success. This increase from 127 in 2008 was highlighted at the 6th Wildlife Board meeting for the Union Territory, chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Efforts at the Hangul Breeding Centre in Tral were noted as crucial to this revival.
