A herd of approximately 22 domestic buffaloes, including calves, has been terrorizing farmers in Rani Chapori char, Kamrup (M) district, for two years. The animals damage crops like brinjal, cabbage, and pumpkin, appearing at night and vanishing by dawn. Farmers are demanding intervention from the Forest Department to tranquilize the herd and implement a concrete plan for their safety and farmland protection. Some farmers have resorted to digging trenches or erecting fences, but these measures are not universally affordable or effective.
