Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh Launch Statewide Vaccination Drives Against Foot and Mouth Disease

Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have launched statewide vaccination campaigns against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) under the National Animal Disease Control Programme. Gujarat's drive runs from March 1 to April 15, using ear-tagging and digital tracking, while Andhra Pradesh's free vaccination for cattle and buffaloes, including calves over four months, spans March 16 to April 29 in two phases. Both states aim to protect livestock health, prevent economic losses, and encourage farmer cooperation amid FMD's contagious impact on cloven-hoofed animals.
