Male Elephant Dies from Electrocution by Illegal Fence in Tamil Nadu Reserve

A male elephant died after coming into contact with an illegally electrified fence around a maize crop field in Kadaganalli village, Kadambur hills, within the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu. The fence was reportedly set up by farmer Puttusamy to protect his crops from wild elephants. Forest officials confirmed the electrocution and have registered cases against the landowner following the incident on March 5, 2026.
