Uttar Pradesh is on track for its deadliest year on record for road accidents in 2025, with fatalities rising by 14.1% from January to November compared to the previous year. Official data shows 24,776 deaths during this period, an increase of 3,066. The number of accidents also rose by 11.4%, and injuries by 12.4%. Experts attribute the steeper rise in deaths to factors like overspeeding, poor safety compliance, and enforcement gaps, suggesting crashes are becoming more severe.
