The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) to immediately shift destitute individuals sleeping on pavements to shelter homes and submit a report. The court expressed concern over the lack of night shelters for women in Vijayawada and ordered the VMC to establish a separate facility. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department was also instructed to file an affidavit on steps for district headquarters to address the issue, suggesting collaboration with NGOs.
