A district-level bird count organized by WINGS in Thiruvananthapuram recorded 188 species on December 14. The Kottoor forests reported the highest number of species with 85, followed by Arippa forest with 83. Other surveyed areas like JNTBGRI, Ponmudi, Bonacaud, and the Vellayani-Punchakkari wetland also showed significant species diversity, highlighting the region's rich biodiversity and coexistence of wildlife.
