Two Kerala Tourists Drown or Missing After Incident at Frozen Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh

Two tourists from Kerala, Dinu (26) and Mahadev (24), drowned or went missing after stepping onto the frozen Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district on January 16, 2026. They attempted to rescue a fellow group member who had fallen into the icy water but were swept under when the ice cracked. A joint rescue operation involving police, Sashastra Seema Bal, and the State Disaster Response Force recovered Dinu's body, while the search for Mahadev was suspended due to harsh weather and resumed the next day.
