Nutritional Support Provided to Tuberculosis Patients in Bihar and Maharashtra Under Nikshay Poshan Yojana

In Bihar, only 37 tuberculosis (TB) patients currently receive the enhanced ₹1,000 monthly aid under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, with the government working to extend benefits to all registered patients. The scheme, launched in 2018, provides nutritional support alongside food baskets distributed mainly through Nikshay Mitras. In Maharashtra, over 1.5 lakh TB patients have received food baskets in the past four years, supported by more than 22,000 Nikshay Mitras as part of the Tuberculosis Free India Campaign, which encourages community and corporate involvement to aid patient recovery through nutrition and treatment adherence.
