The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has mandated installation of sensor-based air quality monitoring systems at construction sites measuring 1,000 square meters and above to address rising air pollution from dust. This includes real-time monitoring of PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels, with alerts and LED indicators to prompt pollution control. PMC has launched a 'Clean Air Portal' to track data from over 350 large sites, with enforcement actions including stop work notices issued to sites failing compliance. The initiative follows Maharashtra Pollution Control Board guidelines and aims to reduce construction-related pollution in Pune.
