Over 200 parrots and other birds have died along the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district over several days. Post-mortem examinations have ruled out bird flu, with veterinary officials suspecting acute food poisoning and improper diet as the primary causes. Investigations suggest consumption of human food waste, potentially mixed with pesticides or contaminated water, may have led to the deaths. The forest department has banned feeding near the affected aqueduct bridge.
