Rajindra Hospital Performs First Cochlear Implant Surgery on Four-Year-Old Patient

Government Medical College's Rajindra Hospital in Patiala performed its first cochlear implant surgery on four-year-old Guneet Kaur, who has severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss. Led by Dr Sanjeev Bhagat with mentorship from GMCH Chandigarh, the procedure was conducted after intervention by the state health minister to provide free treatment. The hospital has launched a Cochlear Implant Programme, aiming to offer hearing rehabilitation and auditory-verbal therapy to patients with significant hearing loss.
