Environmental activists have urged the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) to scientifically manage the invasive weed Salvinia molesta choking Wadale Lake. They met with the Municipal Commissioner, proposing biological control using the Cyrtobagous salviniae weevil, a method proven effective elsewhere. Activists warn the weed's unchecked growth is depleting oxygen and sunlight, threatening the lake's ecosystem with irreversible damage if not addressed promptly. They also suggested forming a lake monitoring committee.
