
At the inaugural session of Samarthan 2026, organized by ROTTO North at PGIMER, 16 organ donor families were honored for their selfless decisions that enabled transplantation benefiting 52 patients with end-stage organ failure and restored sight to 28 corneal blind patients. Over 200 delegates from the medical community and civil society attended. PGIMER director Prof. Vivek Lal and ROTTO director Dr. Anil Kumar highlighted the importance of voluntary deceased organ donation in addressing organ shortages, while Health Ministry's Dr. Amarjeet Kaur praised the families' courage as inspiring hope for those awaiting transplants.
