A workshop on the conservation of the endangered Lion-tailed Macaque was held at the Kalakkad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR) in Tamil Nadu. The event, part of a state-sanctioned conservation project with a ₹1 crore budget, focused on issues like population status, monitoring techniques, and human-macaque interactions. Experts from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka attended to discuss strategies for protecting the primate, which is endemic to the Western Ghats and survives in fragmented rainforest patches.
