
During Sankranti festivities in Uppuluru village, Krishna district, 11 labourers from Scheduled Castes and minority communities engaged in rooster fight-related work were allegedly accused of theft, assaulted, tied up, and illegally detained by event organisers. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Kula Vyatireka Porata Samithi condemned the acts and demanded strict action, including arrests and compensation. Police have registered cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against seven organisers involved in the assault.
