
Kerala's Motor Vehicles Department reported a decline in road accident deaths in 2025, with 3,733 fatalities compared to 3,875 in 2024, continuing a downward trend since 2022. Motorcycle-related deaths also decreased to 1,345 in 2025. Despite this, the total number of accidents rose to 49,889, and injuries increased to 56,922. District data showed Ernakulam Rural had the highest accident cases, while Malappuram recorded the most fatalities, highlighting ongoing road safety challenges amid rising vehicle numbers.
