UK Woman Gives Birth After Womb Transplant from Deceased Donor

In December 2025, Grace Bell became the first woman in the UK to give birth following a womb transplant from a deceased donor. Born with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, Bell underwent a complex transplant surgery in June 2024 at Churchill Hospital, Oxford. After recovery, she received IVF treatment leading to the birth of her son, Hugo, by caesarean section at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital. The procedure is part of a research program by Womb Transplant UK, which has completed three such transplants and plans more.
