
Meenambal Sivaraj, born in 1904 in Rangoon, was a pioneering advocate for Dalit rights and women's empowerment in India. Influenced by her father, the first Scheduled Caste member of the Madras Legislative Council, and her activist husband Sivaraj, she actively addressed issues like untouchability and caste discrimination. Fluent in multiple languages and educated in Rangoon, she engaged in political activism from the late 1920s, supporting initiatives like the Simon Commission and challenging hesitant Congress leaders on social reforms.
