WWII-Era Vintage Tram 'Geetanjali' Runs in Kolkata to Mark 153rd Anniversary

To mark the 153rd anniversary of Kolkata's tram network, the Calcutta Tram Users Association organized a symbolic run of the World War II-era vintage tram 'Geetanjali' on February 24. Starting from Gariahat depot, the tram passed through Esplanade to Shyambazar, drawing around 50 enthusiasts. The tram, built under blackout conditions during WWII, reflects the city's slower past and is now a heritage vehicle amid a network reduced from 37 lines in the 1960s to two operational routes today.
