The Kerala High Court directed the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to improve cattle welfare at the Vaikom Mahadeva temple gosala following a petition highlighting poor conditions and deaths due to starvation. The court ordered appointing a full-time cowherd, designating an administrative officer, carrying out repairs, ensuring separate feeding areas, proper hygiene, ventilation, and adequate food. A separate bank account for gosala maintenance must be opened, with all measures to be implemented within three months, warning of serious consequences for non-compliance.
