Andhra Pradesh Ranks Sixth Nationally in Organ Donation, Health Minister Says

Andhra Pradesh ranks sixth nationally in organ donation, according to the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation's 2025 list. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav attributed this to the Jeevan Daan initiative, launched in 2015, which has increased public awareness and hospital participation. The number of hospitals performing transplants rose from three to nine, with 64 organs retrieved from 18 brain-dead donors in early 2025. Over 5,300 patients await organs, and donor families receive financial assistance, with plans to increase support.
