Bombay HC Urges Stronger Action as Mumbai's Air Quality Worsens to Severe Levels

The Bombay High Court expressed dissatisfaction with Mumbai's 'moderate' air quality, urging stricter pollution control measures. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported issuing over 400 show-cause and 280 stop-work notices to construction sites lacking sensor-based air monitors. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board signed an MoU with Osaka City to enhance pollution management through technology and training. Despite these efforts, Mumbai's Air Quality Index surged to 303 on January 21, indicating severe pollution, largely due to construction dust and vehicle emissions.
