For the first time in Kerala, a human kidney was transported on a commercial IndiGo Airlines flight from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram for transplantation. The kidney, donated by 17-year-old Ayona Monson who died after a fall, will be transplanted to a 27-year-old woman from Parasala. The Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation coordinated the transport, overcoming challenges with helicopter use. The flight included a Kochi stopover, and the organ was safely handled by hospital and airline staff before reaching the Medical College.
