
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) plans to allocate Rs 10 crore in its 2026-27 budget to expand and upgrade three dog shelters, including a 2.5-acre facility in Dwarka designed to house around 1,500 aggressive dogs. Additional shelters are proposed in Bijwasan and Bella Road to support Animal Birth Control centres. The budget also includes approximately Rs 35 crore for microchipping and vaccinating stray dogs, aiming to improve stray animal management and public safety in the city.
