A 50-year-old woman from Jiangsu province, China, consumed a raw fish gallbladder on December 14, hoping to relieve a persistent headache based on traditional beliefs. Shortly after, she developed severe vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, leading to a diagnosis of fish gallbladder poisoning and acute liver failure. Treated in intensive care with plasma exchange and renal replacement therapy, her condition improved after five days. Doctors warned that fish gallbladder toxins can cause serious organ damage and may be fatal.
